 We are a church in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai which is part of the Commission family of Churches. We seek to be Christ-centered, Bible-based, Holy Spirit empowered, Prayerful, and People focused.  We are committed to equipping God's people by teaching and preaching The Word of God.

The Meaning of the Name

CHRISTIAN

 So Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. For a whole year they met with the church and taught a great many people. And in Antioch the disciples were first called Christians.  Acts 11:25‭-‬26

COMMUNITY

And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.  Acts 2:42‭-‬47

CHRIST-CENTRED

We believe that Christ is the Head of the Church, that the Church is the Body of Christ, that it is His Church and that He is building His Church (Ephesians 5:23; Colossians 1:18; Matthew 16:18). We also believe that He is at work in each of our lives, that through Him we can do all things and apart from Him we can do nothing (Philippians 1:6; Philippians 4:13; John 15:5). We will therefore always seek to keep Christ at the centre of our worship, our families, our relationships, our work and our lives in all that we do and say. 

BIBLE-BASED

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and that it is God’s Word that gives us life and light. The Word of God is also a powerful weapon we must use against the forces of darkness as we constantly engage in spiritual warfare (Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4; Psalm 119:105; Ephesians 6:17). We believe that the Bible is the final authority on everything to do with Christian life and faith. We will therefore always seek to be biblical in all our beliefs, preaching, teaching and practices and will not compromise on this. 

HOLY SPIRIT EMPOWERED

We believe that we cannot achieve anything for God in our own wisdom and strength. When we try to move forward on our own, we easily lose our way. But when God calls us to serve Him and to be His witnesses, He empowers us and leads by His Holy Spirit (Zechariah 4:6; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:14). We will therefore always seek to be empowered and led by the Spirit, to keep in step with the Spirit and to pray in the Spirit, in all our endeavours to serve God and to live for Him. 

PRAYERFUL

We believe that prayer is of fundamental importance to living a victorious Christian life. We also believe that prayer is a powerful weapon against the forces of darkness and that it is the Holy Spirit who enables us to pray in accordance with the will of God (Romans 8:26; Ephesians 6:18). We will therefore seek to be devoted to praying both individually and as a church for one another, for our city, our nation and for the world.

PEOPLE FOCUSED

We believe that we cannot love God without loving people and we cannot serve God without serving people (Matthew 22:37-39; Matthew 25:31-46). When Jesus saw the multitudes, He had compassion on them (Matthew 9:36). The Church of Christ which is the Body of Christ is made up of people who are saved, who God adds to the Church (Acts 2:47). Christ has commanded us to love God and to love people and He has commissioned us to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19). We will therefore be focused on:

Making Disciples for Christ.

Strengthening Families so that they will go on to model Christian values. 

Building a Christ-Centred Community of believers that will love and serve God, love one another and impact the world for His Kingdom.

Raising passionate Christian Leaders to lead and shepherd the flock of God.   

ABOUT THE BIBLE

The Scriptures, both Old & New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the Divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.

ABOUT GOD

There is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross a sacrifice for our sins, according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He now is our High Priest and Advocate.

The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age, to convict men, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service.

ABOUT MAN

  Man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit, can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become children of God.

ABOUT BAPTISM

Baptism was commanded by the Lord Jesus Christ. Every born-again believer should be baptized in water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as a sign of his/her fellowship with Jesus Christ in His death, burial and resurrection – thereby confessing that he/she has put off his/her sinful life and yielded himself/herself to God to live in newness of life. We believe immersion to be the scriptural method of baptism. 

 ABOUT THE LORD'S SUPPER

The Lord’s Supper is partaken of by born-again baptized believers in good and regular standing, in obedience to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. By this they profess their faith in Christ and show forth until He comes, His suffering and death for them and their oneness with one another. (Baptism and the Lord‘s Supper are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation)

ABOUT THE CHURCH

The Church has two aspects: the visible and the invisible church. Whoever has accepted the Gospel, repented of his/her sins and been baptized is a member of the visible Church. All who have repented of their sins, believed on the Lord Jesus Christ and have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit are members of the invisible Church. Jesus Christ is the head of the Church, which is His body. Christ holds supreme authority over its government and discipline, by the Holy Spirit. He has set over the Church certain officers for the administration order and discipline – such as apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers, deacons and elders that He might use them “to prepare God‘s people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in faith and in the knowledge of the son of God and become mature attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Jesus Christ has committed to the Church the responsibility of preaching the gospel in all lands as a witness of salvation to all people. 

Only those who are thus members of the true Church shall be eligible for membership in the local church.

ABOUT SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Spiritual gifts are abilities God bestows on every born-again believer for the common good of the Body of Christ. We believe that these gifts are a manifestation of the Holy Spirit and are different from the natural talents that each one of us is born with. Discovering and utilizing their spiritual gifts is one of the most exciting adventures a believer can have with God. Spiritual gifts are a large part of the answer to the question, "What should I do with the life God gave me?". Therefore, we believe that believers should be encouraged to work towards discovering and putting to use the gift that has been given to them by God.

ABOUT THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

We believe in the personal and pre-millennial and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this “Blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.

ABOUT THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgement and everlasting conscious punishment.
